Dr Fry is an amazing psychiatrist. He looks at the whole person and how overall health, functioning, wellbeing, nutrition and genetics might play a part in finding solutions to psychiatric or neurodevelopmental conditions. His knowledge is second to none. He is also able to take into account seemingly unrelated symptoms and health conditions and form a co-ordinated treatment plan. Most importantly his treatments are designed to work with the body and with a person's specific profile. This has meant that there have been no side effects to his treatment and we have been able to trust his opinion completely. He is especially knowledgeable about how to approach complex syndromes or multiple diagnoses. Dr Fry is friendly and approachable. He has an open, candid style which puts you at ease and makes you feel as if nothing is embarrassing. He also has a great sense of humour, which helps. Dr Fry really cares, appointments never feel rushed, he spends a lot of effort individualising treatment plans and he has always taken time to fully understand our concerns. I'm just glad that we found him.

Contacted Dr Fry in order to get an ASD assessment for my daughter. We already had 2 reports and we were going through NHS diagnosis, however due to EHCP application and secondary school coming up we were keen to get a diagnosis through ASAP. Dr Fry said he would trial a video assessment (couldn't do face to face due to covid) which he hadn't done before. Communication was sporadic, many times no replies. The reports we already had were sent to Dr Fry. Video assessment was inconclusive, Dr Fry advised we needed a face to face and referred us to someone who cold do this. He wrote up a report very similar to the two we already had. We then got invoiced for the full amount, despite him being unable to actually assess out daughter.

Response from Dr Richard Fry

We are uncertain about this review - no one else has had problems contacting us. We explained very clearly in writing what I could offer before the first appointment and that if an ADOS-2 was required it is my normal (and NICE compliant) practice to ask an Associate to do this in addition, not me, to ensure an MDT approach to diagnosis. No previous consultation had involved a Psychiatrist. Video consults are now routine and work well for most things with high satisfaction rates but were starting then. All costs were fully explained and adhered to. A full 4 page report was supplied. The patient has declined to pay. We suggest you may like to look at out website for other reviews of our service as well as here.

Dr Fry was very abrupt, had no sympathy, and came across as though he was to busy. Appointment cost £600. We have tried to contact his secretary, through emails and phone calls to arrange a therapy appointment. A few weeks later and they have still not contacted us.

Response from Dr Richard Fry

We are uncertain about contact issues here - all phones and emails were working well at this time. Most reviewers comment on other aspects of my presentation and interaction - please see here and on our website for other sources. The full cost of an appointment was higher and we reduced the price in view of dissatisfaction.

Dr Fry has been absolutely fantastic in advising us on how best to support our child who has ADHD. Dr Fry is so calm, friendly and helpful whenever we have consultations. Through holistic approaches and carefully monitored medication our child is thriving and happy at school and is doing so very well. We couldn’t ask for more and we highly recommend Dr Fry for anyone looking for support for themselves or a family member.

Profile

I am a Psychiatrist seeing Children, Adolescents, Families, and some Adults. After 20 years int he NHS I moved into exclusively private practice in 2005. I have a firm interest in Metabolic and Nutritional contributions to psychological health and well-being, as well as all conventional medical and psychological/dynamic approaches in mental health and illnesses. I am trained in Functional Medical approaches (IFM member). I have a background in general practice so am well rooted in common sense approaches too. I work from Winchester in two bases as well as outlying more occasional clinics in London and Windsor. There is much more about me and my approach on my website (drfry.org.uk).
